Course overview 

The CIBTAC LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN THE PRINCIPLES OF COSMETIC PRACTICE is a level 3 internationally recognised Aesthetics diploma and is designed so that graduates become fully qualified Therapists who are salon ready and able to explore the Aesthetics career path of their choice

The CIBTAC Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Cosmetic Practice is aimed at preparing Learners to enter the beauty therapy sector with a view to progressing to Level 4 study in aesthetic treatments and may also be of interest to those wishing to extend their Level 2 study.

 

Entry requirements  

You will need to have completed a Level 2 OFQUAL qualification in either Beauty Therapy or Facial Skin Care, or have completed a comparative regulated qualification providing transferable knowledge and skills

 

Career progression

Achievement of  CIBTAC Level 3  Certificate in the Principles of Cosmetic Practice will provide the progression to the study of beauty therapy and aesthetic treatments at Level 4, for example, IQ Verify Level 4-7 Skin Rejuvenation, which includes both skin peel and micro-needling.

 

It also opens the door for a wider range of beauty and aesthetic procedures including Level 4 Laser & Light for Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation, Face and Body Electrotherapies, Fibroblast Plasma Skin Lifting, Dermaplaning and much more.

 

Structure 

Health & Safety in Clinic Environment

The unit is about the individual’s ability to monitor and maintain health and safety practice within a working salon/spa environment. Learners will improve their knowledge of health and safety and develop supervisory skills to enable them to carry out carry out risk assessments and monitor health and safety issues in the salon.

Client care, Skin Analysis And Assessment

The consultation procedure is an essential part of any treatment in terms of building Client confidence and relationships and as such an effective and thorough approach to the consultation process lies at the heart of all good treatments. A thorough knowledge by the therapist, of a variety of methods of communicating and providing Client care is required, along with an essential understanding of how to evaluate the information gained and formulate recommendations. This unit will enable the Learner to develop their consulting skills and gain a deeper understanding of effective Client care. The Learner will also need to understand the importance of portraying a professional image in both appearance and conduct.

The basis of all good skin analysis lies in a complete knowledge by the Therapist of the anatomical structures and systems in the area to be treated, coupled with a thorough understanding of the abilities and functions of skincare products. This unit will enable the Learner to prepare for and provide skin analysis to meet the needs of the Client, whilst working in a safe and secure manner. This unit will assist in providing understanding of the organisational skills required, and technical processes and procedures involved in providing skin analysis.

Anatomy And Physiology (For Skin Treatments)

The basis of all confident and competent therapy treatments lies in a complete knowledge by the therapist of all the anatomical structures and systems in the area to be treated and an understanding of if, and how, they will be affected by treatment application.

Beauty Therapy Science

This unit will provide all of the necessary underpinning knowledge of electrical science, chemistry and physics to enable Learners to understand the natural and physical science behind electrical beauty therapy treatments.

Course delivery:

Our Level 3 certificate in cosmetic practises is delivered via online audio visual e-learning – there is no practical attendance required.

  • Final Theory Examination undertaken by our Awarding Body (CIBTAC)

The mandatory units within the qualification are assessed externally by Multiple Choice Theory paper. You will need to gain a minimum of 60% in each unit to pass.

Course time can vary from 70 hours.
